True Christian Basics - Chapter 3.
We are now on the third chapter of our journey to finding the TRUTH, as revealed by God.
Chapter 1 and 2 were easy for most “Christians”. However, the next TRUTH will be harder for some.
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
Notice the word ALL! Not some. Not most. But ALL.
That means that there is not one word in our Bibles (assuming that it has been translated correctly) that is not inspired by God.
WE CAN’T IGNORE VERSES THAT DON’T SAY WHAT WE WOULD PREFER THEM TO SAY.
Deuteronomy 4:2
You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you.
Now, those that want to ignore certain verses that they find unpleasant to obey, will say that Deuteronomy was done away with after Jesus Christ’s sacrifice.
James 1:17
Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
God never changes. He has said that He has inspired every word in the Bible. He has said that we must not add to it or take away from it. He has told us that He never changes.
God is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow.
So, if we read that we have to do something, we must do it. If we read that we must NOT do something, then we must NOT do it. Mankind does not have the option to “adjust” God’s Word to suit their pet positions on a particular subject.
Read what the last passage in the Bible tells us:
Revelation 22:18
I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.
A large part of the Bible is prophecy. Whether the above verses refer to just Revelation or the whole Bible, God knew that Revelation would be the final book of the Bible. Certainly, for Christians during the past 600 years, the Bible was a complete book and not just a collection of individual scrolls.
God never changes, remember? If He feels so strongly about His Word in Revelation, don’t you think that He is just as concerned that nothing is changed in the rest of the Bible? Don't you think you should check again on those verses you thought didn't apply to you? The ones that someone clever told you were now done away with?
I hope you have managed to tick all five extra boxes on this page. If you have then you are well on the way to finding out all the secrets that God only reveals to True Christians. If you have stumbled over any of them so far, for your own eternal future, you should re-examine yourself.
Do you really want to understand the TRUTH?
Do you really want to stand before Jesus Christ one day and have Him say to you that you were a good and profitable servant?
